About
Funopticon is a weekend of fun & games, bonding, debauchery, and fast cars*. Think of it as being somewhere in between summer camp for adults and a music festival minus the music.
*No fast cars.
Location & Date
Funopticon will be held from September 6–8, 2019, at Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg, NY.

If you live far away, your best best is to fly into NYC and rent a car + carpool with other attendees. Albany is closer to the venue and may eliminate the need to rent a car (details below), but is more expensive. |
If you live close enough to drive/bus/train (ex. DC, Philly, Boston), we recommend either driving directly or taking the bus/train to Albany.
If your flight/bus/train takes you to Albany, you can take a shuttle directly to the venue for about $25. You can indicate your (non-binding) interest during registration. Alternatively, you can rent a car in Albany.
Finally, we strongly recommend during registration that you opt to be connected to your fellow attendees in your city so you can coordinate on transportation. Coordinating should be especially useful for attendees flying in to rent a car and drive up together.

About the Organizers
Max and Tim met as fellows in the inaugural class of Venture for America, where their questionable futures and general unemployability inspired Andrew Yang to run for President on a platform of universal basic income. They later honed their culture-building skills as startup founders and part-time cult leaders. Collectively, they have inspired hundreds of people to make regrettable life decisions.
What’s included in my ticket?
Your ticket includes lodging and meals for the weekend, alcohol (though we recommend bringing your own to supplement), and some secret Funopticon surprises.
Can I bring a friend/my significant other/my parents?
Yes, you can invite your friends! When you get your ticket, we’ll ask you for the names and email addresses of anyone else you want to invite.
We’re aiming to build a short-term community of people who are fun, weird, adventurous, and eager to contribute to making the weekend an awesome experience for everyone involved, so if you’re going to invite a friend, make sure they’re someone who shares those values.
Are you guys making money on this?
No, we’re running Funopticon at cost. We might even lose money!
Why is it called Funopticon?
The Panopticon is a type of institutional building and a system of control designed by the English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. This is like that, but fun.
